Application of Nitrogen Generators in Analytical Laboratory

As one of the commonly used laboratory equipment, the nitrogen generator is known to provide high flow and over 95% purity nitrogen gas as atomization and drying gas for LC-MS ion source under certain pressure.

In the LC-MS ion source section, high flow, high-purity (over 95%) nitrogen gas is required, which needs to be used as a gas for atomization, drying, etc. under specific pressure. In addition, some manufacturers may also choose to use dry air that meets specific requirements. It should be noted that the gas source must not react with the target substance, nor introduce other impurities to avoid affecting the operation of the mass spectrometer. At the same time, the gas source should not increase the maintenance and cleaning work of the ion source. The flow rate, purity, quality, and stability of the gas supply system of nitrogen are all crucial factors for the operation of mass spectrometry. Therefore, when selecting a gas source, these factors need to be carefully considered to ensure the stability of the mass spectrometry.

Application of Nitrogen Generator in Nitrogen Evaporator

Nitrogen evaporator is a widely used sample pretreatment method in laboratories. With the help of a nitrogen evaporator or concentrator, we can continuously and controllably blow nitrogen gas onto the surface of the sample. This process can promote the rapid evaporation of solvents in the sample, thereby achieving concentration of the sample. According to different heating methods, nitrogen evaporators can be divided into three types: dry, water bath, and air bath. The fully automatic nitrogen evaporator is widely used in nitrogen generators, which can provide continuous and stable nitrogen gas.

Usually, nitrogen is used as the gas source for this type of detector. The gas flow rate is generally controlled between 0.5 and 5.0 liters per minute, which is closely related to factors such as solvent volatility and column flow rate. At the same time, the gas must be kept clean, dry, and inert to prevent the generation of high background noise, thereby ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the detection results.
